		<description>There are a number of good programs out there.  The program that comes with JumpSoles (from JumpUSA.com) worked very well for me when I was younger, which involves a lot of ploymetric exercises.

I do suggest that if you are playing competitive basketball right now, then you DON&#039;T start a vertical program until the off season.  For your vertical to be effective, you&#039;re going to have to get plenty of rest.  Playing a season does not provide you sufficient rest and can actually hurt your vertical.

Some things that will also help you out will be to:
- Improve your Core Strength (a stronger core makes your other muscles stronger and more efficient)
- Get proper nutrition (usually about a 60-20-20 ratio of carbs, proteins, and fats for athletes)

Also, I&#039;m sure you know it already, but a couple of the top exercises you should be doing will be:

Squats
Lunges
Calf Raises
Pull-ups
Core Exercises (crunches, back raises, etc.)</description>
