I’m leasing the horse I ride next month and she needs some definite help on a few things. One is lead changes, I know what I’m gonna do for that, but the other is consistency over fences- both in speed and not refusing. I was thinking some gridwork would help for refusals, but what exercises can I do to help her keep an even canter throught out a course, and not rush at jumps and break stride on turns.
thanks guys for al the help so far. She is only 5 years old, but I agree that she is missing some of the basics. What scares me the most is she can be very clumsy. she is a pretty little jumper when she tries. I’m thinking there might be a tack issue involved, because I’ve always ridden in a certain saddle and she would try very hard for me, but not very hard for the other person who rides her in a different saddle. I rode her in the different saddle last week and she was a butthead. idk the saddle I ride in is smaller. Maybe the other saddle is too big for her back or something is pinching her.
