Why are there spikes in the heel and toes of the shoes?

i’m 6’2 and weigh 170,, i tried squatting and did 155, 5 reps. and struggled a little on the fifth rep. so that means i can probably barely do my body weight.. my question is, if i start squatting until i can do over 250, how much higher would i jump?

I’m 5’8 in a half and can’t tap backboard. What are some things I can do?
